Chianti an Tuscany

During a holiday in Florence one is simply spoiled for choice among the many possible excursions to discover landscapes, nature and gastronomic traditions of Tuscany.

Among these routes, the ones running throughout the Chianti Classico, the famous wine production area, is an experience not to be missed.

Along the Via Chiantigiana that connects Florence to Siena there is a veritable succession of villages, vineyards and farms that dot the hills, creating that unique landscape that you can see only in Tuscany.
Greve, Gaiole, Castellina, Radda, are the villages whose name includes the words "in Chianti" and whose countrysides are home to the wineries that produce the famous DOCG (Controlled Designation of Origin Guaranteed) red wine known throughout the world.

Gastronomy Tuscany

This area has been affectionately dubbed Chiantishire for the presence of so many Englishmen who, coming as tourists, fell in love with these hills and made of them their home.

Besides being a wine area, the Chianti is the area of an extra virgin olive oil awarded the PDO (Protected Designation of Origin), featuring a characteristic deep green colour with golden shades, with a tangy and fruity olive smell.

The products of Chianti Classico are easily recognizable by the symbol of the black rooster in a gold field.
